The Balvenie 21 Year Old Portwood is aged for 21 years in traditional casks, being transferred during the last months of aging to pipes where fine port wines were once aged. After the transfer, it is regularly tasted by the master of malt of the distillery to ensure that the whisky only acquires the necessary qualities from the port wine. This whisky presents itself with a perfume of fruits and notes of ripe raisins accompanied by an almond note. A refined and remarkable character, it is creamy and silky with notes of fruit, honey, and spices, with a long and pleasant finish.
