Whisky Basil Hayden Bourbon Created in 1992 by Booker Noe as part of the Small Batch collection, Basil Hayden introduced a more subtle side of bourbon compared to its counterparts. This style of bourbon was inspired by the whiskey pioneer of 1792, Meredith Basil Hayden, Sr., a rye farmer from Maryland who moved to Kentucky and began distilling. He chose to produce his bourbon with a higher percentage of rye, and Booker sought to recreate a similar recipe, with a high rye content, to offer a refined and approachable flavor profile. Today, this bourbon pays tribute to the innovation of Meredith Basil Hayden, Sr. in creating his rye-rich recipe, as well as to Booker Noe, a true visionary who sought to attract new enthusiasts to the world of whiskey.
